Natural Remedy For Eczema

By Leon Lioe

When it comes to skin problem and disease, one of the most common conditions is eczema. There are millions of people worldwide suffering from eczema and many are trying to combat the disease using natural treatments. There are many factors (both internal and external) that can cause eczema and the severity can range from a large area covered in bleeding, inflamed and infected sores to mild cases with just a few red rashes and itchy patches.

The most common types of eczema include atopic eczema which is extremely itchy and believed to be hereditary, and discoid eczema that often appears on the lower legs of older people as red patches of dry skin. Although doctors still have no solid evidence as to what causes eczema many causes have been linked to skin irritants, diets, stress, environmental pollution, and weak immune system.

In my humble opinion, the best remedy to combat with eczema is by strengthening your immune system and I also believe this is the most natural way of treating eczema. Strengthening immune system not only can help you to fight against eczema but also other common health problems such as colds or flu.

The first step in building a strong immune system is to start with your diets. This means you must start avoiding bad foods and start eating foods that can help to nourish your body from the inside out. You must also start to identify foods that trigger your eczema flareups as not all food triggers are the same for everyone.

Some of the most common food-allergy ezcema triggers are: eggs, cow's milk, peanuts, chocolate, sulfites, fish and food preservatives (for example, MSG). If you don't know your eczema food triggers then you need to find out through trial and error. Observe your skin reaction after consuming a food, if you eat something and eczema happens then you need to remove that food from your diet menu and avoid eating it again in the future.

As you can see, diet can play a crucial role in controlling eczema, by observing the food you eat and skin reactions, you will be able to understand the underlying cause of your eczema flare-ups. Having a nutritious diet is by far the best remedy for eczema!

You should also take nutritional supplements such as flaxseed oil, evening primrose oil and zinc. Studies show that these supplements are very effective in reducing the inflammation from eczema. They also have strong healing properties and can prevent eczema breakouts. However, be patient if you take supplements because you won't see immediate results. You'll need to take the supplements for a period of six months or longer to see the benefits.
